Members of the Mohave County Airport Authority board will host discussion on the creation of a project committee to honor the contributions of Board President John Hastings during today’s regularly scheduled meeting.
Hastings died last month of lung cancer.
“John will be sorely missed,” said Jeremy Keating, Laughlin/Bullhead International Airport director. “He was a mentor and friend — John was the sole reason for our air service efforts over the past 10-plus years and we all owe him a debt of gratitude.”
MCAA Board members meet at 9 a.m. today at the Bullhead Area Chamber of Commerce, 1251 Highway 95. Following the regular quarterly meeting, the board will host its annual general membership meeting, which will include the appointment of an elections officer, election of board members and election of officers.
During the regular meeting, members will hear committee reports on Federal Aviation projects in progress, including Phase 1A completions of apron rehabilitation/construction of general aviation, commercial and remain overnight aprons and progress on Phase 2A, as well as FAA projects awaiting grant funding including land acquisition and sealcoat projects on Taxiway Alpha and connectors.
Members also will hear an update on the drainage master plan.
Also on the agenda is an update on the Air Traffic Control Tower radio/communication equipment replacement project, which received one bid.
In his airport director report, Keating will brief members on the AAAE annual conference, April 15-18 in San Diego, and offer an operational activity report.
Keating also will discuss upcoming airport events including this week’s Wings of Freedom show, which offers walk-through tours and flights on four of the most famous WWII bomber and fighter aircraft hosted by Collings Foundation, and Young Eagles Day, Saturday, April 21, at the airport, which offers children ages 8-17 free flights on general aviation aircraft.
